With the last date for completing the BTech admission under Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical-2009 (KEAM-09) Entrance scheme just two days away, the self-financing colleges under Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) and IHRD are reporting several vacancies under different streams.
The Commissioner of Entrance Examinations has fixed October 31 as the deadline for finishing the admission process and the colleges under CAPE and IHRD are offering spot admissions at the respective colleges to students on first come first served basis. CAPE's College of Engineering and Management at Punnapra has reported 106 vacancies at 5 p.m. on Wednesday (October 28) while its College of Engineering at Thrikaripur has reported 50 vacancies in civil (11), IT (16), Computer Science (12) Elec&Comm (1) and Electrical (10) branches.
In the CAPE colleges the vacancies are reportedly in the following branches: Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation and Civil. The fee in the management seats is Rs 65,000 and NRI seats is Rs 1,00,000. Application in the prescribed form downloaded from the website www.capekerala.org shall be submitted directly to the principals of the respective colleges. In the case of the IHRD colleges, for admission to the remaining vacant seats in different branches, students have been advised to contact the respective colleges. "We have vacancies at all colleges in different branches except Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara where all the seats have been filled. Students can contact the respective college principals and the seats will be filled on first come first served basis," said V.A Arun Kumar, Joint Director, IHRD, to Mathrubhumi Education on Wednesday evening. The vacancies are mainly in Electronic, Bio-meidcal, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical and IT branches. Those who have figured in the KEAM (Kerala Entrance) Rank List can apply.
According to IHRD Director Prof V Subramony, students should present themselves with the credentials and the rank number in the CEE's list at the respective colleges for securing admission. The fee fixed is Rs 65,000. Students may be given time to remit the fees, said the Director.

There are a few seats vacant in the BTech Information Technology (IT) Branch at the Pulnikunnu campus of Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat). Those students who had registered on September 16, 2009 but did not get admission, are advised to come to the Hindi Department auditorium of Cusat’s Thrikkakara campus, at 10 a.m. on October 30, for securing admission to the IT Branch, said the IRAA Director.
