The following section describes in detail about Biotechnology course, elaborated with reference to the
Courses and Eligibility, Job Opportunities, Biotechnology Colleges in India and Related Web Links.
Biotechnology is the technology based on biology, especially when used in agriculture, food science and medicine. It affects almost all the sphere of human life. It is an interdisciplinary science encompassing biology as well as physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering. In Medicine, it has helped in improving accuracy of diagnosis and treatment of disease and in the synthesis of new and improved drugs. The productions of nutrition foods, enzymes for its preservation, are just some of the contributions of biotechnology to the processed food industry. In agriculture it has helped in eradicating crop diseases, improving the quality of food production and livestock. Biotechnology has also explored new sources of energy, new methods of pollution control and handling waste in hygienic manner. The creation of Dolly, the cloned lamb, has revolutionised the field of genetic engineering followed by many luminous achievements related in the field of new and vast developing CLONING.

Many opportunities are available in drug and pharmaceutical research, public funded laboratories, chemicals, environment control, waste management, energy, agriculture, animal Husbandry, food processing and bio-process industries. Most biotechnologists find employment on a large scale in research laboratories run by the government of India. Industries dealing with tracking new energy sources like CNG and finding new methods of waste management also require the assistance of biotechnologists. There is a phenomenal projection about the industry.
